Manchester and District Golf Captains Captain’s Day – 22nd June 2018
Dear Heaton Moor Golf Club, Thank you to everyone for making this a very special day. Everything was perfect. Heaton Moor Golf Club pulled out all the stops. It was a Team effort that show cased Heaton Moor Golf Club at its best. There was nothing but praise from all the visiting Captains. The Weather was glorious. Ged and his Team had prepared and presented the Course magnificently. Lee and the Catering Staff provided a great meal and well served with a smile. Simon and the Bar Staff all worked hard and were very helpful. Alasdair was very efficient and attentive he made sure that everything went well and that nothing was too much trouble. The Flowers were a lovely touch provided by Marjorie. Mark kindly loaned his buggy to our President and this allowed him to play. The early organisation was seamless thanks to Margaret and Joan. Simon was as always helpful with a smile organising prizes and nearest the Pin.. The nearest the Turkey seemed to be a popular addition! The Past Captains were very supportive with 10 playing and 4 extra dining including the Senior Past Captain Graham Sharp. I was delighted that 1st and 2nd were Heaton Moor Golf Club Past Captains. Congratulations to the worthy Winners Pete Milner and Phil Massey. The President Tony and Captain Roy were fantastic company. The President was correct when he kept telling me not to give the Captain more wine. Roy’s Speech was unforgetable!
Thank you for a Day that I will never forget
Yours sincerely
Tony Gregory
Captain of Manchester and District Golf Captains
Longest Day Golf Challenge – 21st June 2018
Along with three friends we took on the Longest Day Golf Challenge at your club on Thursday 21st June. It was a fantastic 05:00 start, with three of the course foxes trotting across the first fairway, looking somewhat bewildered at us.
We all went through the pain barrier at various stages with our ailments / injuries, but with great relief and joy we completed the challenge, and in a quicker time than anticipated.
We were blessed with almost perfect weather conditions and a great course, especially the greens, with their true roll (and quickening pace as the day went on), a real credit to the Green keeping staff.
We would like to show our appreciation and send our sincere thanks to –
Yourself for your support, encouragement and flexibility with the tees on the day which enabled us to keep going.
The Club Secretary for allowing us to hold the event.
The very friendly and welcoming bar staff and Chef, whom was able to rustle up big breakfasts for us all, whilst preparing Afternoon Tea for the ex-Lady Captains.
All the golfers we came across, most of them we assume were members of and a credit to your club. They all very kindly let us ‘play through’ without hesitation.
Everybody was full of encouragement and praise for us undertaking the challenge, several people even gave contributions to the very worthwhile Macmillan Cancer Support.
We set a target of £900 but are currently at approximately £1700, once we have it we will let you know the final total. All of which wouldn’t have been possible without your very kind help and support.
Thank you to all the staff and members of Heaton Moor GC for a great and truly memorable day.
With very kind regards
Pete, John, Steve, Dave and Nick
Mixed Golf Open – June 2018
……I would also like to say what a great day we had, our playing Partners Alan and Gail were wonderful company, but what impressed me most about the club was the friendly members and their ability to all seem to care about the club, helping and making sure everyone had a good time.
Many thanks for a great event
